The waste hose must be connected to a standpipe of the correct internal diameter (typically 40mm) with the top of the standpipe at a height of between 600mm and 900mm above the floor — too low and waste water will drain out prematurely; too high and the pump may struggle to discharge. We always check these measurements and adjust the standpipe height if required.
Anti-flood hoses (also known as aquastop or safety hoses) incorporate a built-in flow sensor that detects the loss of pressure associated with a burst fill hose and automatically shuts off the water supply, preventing flooding. These are an excellent investment and we recommend them, particularly for machines installed in upstairs locations or in rooms without a floor drain.
